Welcome to The Alpina Gstaad - An Iconic Alpine Experience
The Alpina Gstaad is a luxury hotel in Switzerland for the world`s most discerning travellers opening December 2012. More than a place to stay in the Alps, it is a new icon for Gstaad combining Swiss tradition and thoughtful luxury.
The hotel`s design makes use of materials and craftsmanship typical to the region, including centuries-old fir wood crafted by master artisans. The result goes beyond Swiss stereotypes to create a fresh interpretation of Alpine chic. Facilities include 56 rooms and suites, Japanese cuisine from Megu, a Cuban cigar room and a Swiss `Stübli` restaurant. Other year-round attractions include our Six Senses Spa, indoor and outdoor pools, and alpine activities in the Bernese Oberland. The Alpina Gstaad is the first completely new five-star hotel in Gstaad to open in this traditional Swiss village for more than a century - a stately address built in the local style with fresh and modern textures layered upon antique woods.
It is a place where authenticity meets Swiss luxury, our commitment to the true Gstaad showing in every turn of the chisel, in the hewing of stone, wood carving and authentic leatherwork by local craftsmen. This sense of place includes spectacular mountain views from our 56 rooms and suites.
At The Alpina Gstaad, every room has a private balcony or terrace. Our Deluxe Rooms Schönried look towards the softly rolling hills of the Bernese Alps while our Deluxe Rooms Gstaad afford vistas of the village and, in the far distance, Les Diablerets glacier. Throughout, the region`s heritage inspires the detail and careful craftsmanship. Yet the result is also fresh and modern, delivering an original Alpine chic aesthetic. Classically carved ceilings and timber-clad walls create a cosy feel along with leather headboards, Swiss farmhouse-style cupboards and chests. Decorative accessories recall the traditional leather straps used to hold cowbells - an iconic image for Saanenland.
Our generously sized Junior Suites have separate bedroom and sitting room areas with a hand-built stone fireplace flanked by large armchairs, a sofa and leather pouffes. There is a balcony dining area and a separate shower and bathroom. More than anything, our Junior Suites stand apart with their long glazed façades that provide relaxing pastoral views from your private balcony or terrace. Panoramas take in the soft roll of the Bernese Alps, the peak of Les Diablerets and the village of Gstaad. Throughout, the region`s heritage inspires the careful craftsmanship. Yet the result is also modern — an original aesthetic of Alpine chic comprising timber-clad walls combined with farmhouse-style cupboards and leather accessories.
Our Deluxe Suites - soaked in Alpine sunshine - benefit from peerless views towards Les Diablerets and Gstaad village. Interior detailing creates a cosy, home-from-home feeling with an ensuite dressing room, fireplace and relaxed seating area.
The generously sized fireplace fashioned from local stone is the sitting room`s focal point. To create the ambience of a private home, the suite is thoughtfully accessorised with local crafts while bookcases hold a sophisticated literature collection. Throughout, the region`s heritage inspires the careful craftsmanship. Yet the result is also modern - an original aesthetic of Alpine chic comprising timber-clad walls combined with farmhouse-style cupboards and leather accessories.
Grand Luxe Suites
Luxury in Gstaad reaches a new level of distinction in these huge suites. There is space to entertain friends over dinner, a separate working area with a desk, and a truly impressive Alpine stone fireplace flanked by a specially-designed, internally-lit bookcase.
Around the fire, guests can lounge on the chaise longue or in the leather-upholstered armchairs. For even greater privacy, you can choose the suite`s second sitting room to curl up with a book. The feeling throughout is of a chic private apartment in the Alps. Each suite`s generous south-facing terrace has large windows and French doors to the balcony with spectacular views over Les Diablerets and Gstaad village. The joy of staying here is knowing exactly where you are - in the heart of the Swiss Alps.
Our 400sq m Panorama Suite is a three-bedroom duplex apartment on the fifth and sixth floors. It`s so expansive, it has views to both the north and south, the windows taking in the mountains, Alpine meadows and the glittering village below. The living spaces flow into each other. Focal points include the large, wood-burning fireplace with its floor-to-ceiling chimney piece and elegant seating. Small coffee tables, designed by Hom Le Xuan, are scattered among the chairs like polished river stones. From here, the lounge continues in the style of an elegant residence in the Alps, and opens out onto a large terrace. On another side of the lounge, hidden from view, there is a kitchen that allows for the preparation of private, in-suite meals. The sumptuous, balconied master bedroom has a fire, walk-in dressing room and a bathroom that contains a large free-standing tub, over-sized showerheads and TV inset into the mirror. Onyx wall sconces glow dramatically against the marble-clad walls. A grand staircase leads to the suite`s top floor where skylights frame the mountain peaks. Here you will find your private spa, Jacuzzi, fitness and massage area, another fireplace and a bedroom with classic timber latticework and its own verandah.

Dining at The Alpina Gstaad draws upon authentic Swiss traditions in food and wine combined with modernist cooking techniques and creative presentations. Every restaurant features a selection of signature dishes and tasting menus, alongside some all-time classics.
All restaurants share a single floor of the hotel with floor-to-ceiling glass doors flowing onto an outdoor terrace. The terrace has fire-pits burning on winter days and summer nights, and is surrounded by our Jean Mus-designed garden and the Alpine peaks.
The Restaurant Sommet at The Alpina Gstaad is all about casual, convivial fine dining with family and friends where you can enjoy creative all-day menus, some of the best steaks in town and a unique tasting menu by our famed chef. Our wine selection with 400 labels of hand-picked rarities from around the world will please the connoisseur.
The interior is dominated with reclaimed rustic timber. The workmanship showcases the art of fine Swiss cabinetry, from the exquisitely decorated antique ceiling planks to the large timber beams that clad walls in perfect dovetailed formation. Outside, a terrace with a fire-pit sets the tone for al fresco dining. With breathtaking views of Gstaad and Les Diablerets glacier, eating at Restaurant Sommet is a unique experience that makes you fall in love with this spectacular Alpine location.
